The Difference Is How We Build

In-House Manufacturing

At our Margaret, Manitoba facility, we run four dedicated manufacturing operations: post production, steel rolling, truss fabrication, and cellulose insulation supply. We produce our own 4-ply 2×8 Southern Yellow Pine laminated posts, roll our own Can-American high-tensile steel cladding, build our own engineered trusses, and supply our own insulation packages.

Real Regional Reps

Every Prairie Post Frame project starts with a dedicated regional rep who lives and works in your territory. No call centres. No national sales desks. You deal with one person who visits the site, knows the local code requirements, understands the regional climate conditions, and sees your project from first site visit through final sign-off.

We Back What We Build

A written warranty package behind every building. 75 years on the structural posts. 40 years on the exterior metal cladding finish. 10 years on light panels and interior PVC liners.

Engineered for Western Canada & the Upper Midwest

A building designed for a Manitoba winter faces very different conditions than one in Montana, Alberta, North Dakota, Saskatchewan or Minnesota. Prairie Post Frame engineers each structure for the specific snow, wind, climate and site conditions of the region where it will be built.
Engineered For Western

Regional Snow Load Engineering

Every structure is custom calculated for heavy prairie and northern winter snow volumes.

Wind Uplift Calculations

Engineered rigorously for highly exposed rural, farmland, and open-field project sites.

Frost-Proof Post Embedding

Structural posts are embedded a minimum of 6 feet below grade — safely below regional frost lines — resting on a robust 12-inch crushed rock base.

Optimized Center Spacing

Post spacing ranges from 4 to 6 feet on centre, precisely calculated against localized high wind demand.

Advanced Vapour Management

Smart wall system engineering optimized for extreme temperature differentials between indoor work spaces and the outdoor freeze.

Fully Integrated from the Ground Up

We build it, we don't just order it. Prairie Post Frame runs four in-house manufacturing operations at our Margaret, MB facility.
Laminated Post Frame

Laminated Post Production

4-ply 2×8 Southern Yellow Pine laminated posts — finger-jointed, glued, pressed. Treated to LP-22 standards, backed by 75-year warranty.
Steel Rooling

Steel Rolling

Can-American high-tensile steel cladding - 100,000+ PSI, 28-gauge galvanized with WeatherX finish. Custom profiles and colours produced to spec.
Truss Manufacturing

Truss Manufacturing

Engineered in-house using robotic cutting systems and laser projection gantry tables. Built to the specific span, snow load, and roof pitch.
Cellulose

Cellulose Insulation

We supply our own cellulose insulation packages. Wall assembly, vapour management, and ceiling system designed as a complete thermal envelope.

Frequently Asked Questions
01

What makes Prairie Post Frame different from other post-frame builders?

We combine factory-controlled material manufacturing with regional expertise and written warranty coverage. Our 4-ply 2×8 Southern Yellow Pine laminated columns, in-house truss engineering, Can-American high-tensile steel cladding, and cellulose insulation production aren't options — they're standard on every build.

02

How long does a build take, from quote to completion?

Timeline varies based on building size, permitting complexity, and time of year. Your rep will give you a realistic schedule during the design process — not a best-case estimate built around closing the sale.

03

Do you handle engineering and building permits?

Yes. We provide structural engineering and support the permitting process in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and BC. We know what local municipalities require and we coordinate that on your behalf.

04

What does the 75-year post warranty cover?

It covers our Southern Yellow Pine laminated posts against rot and structural failure caused by fungal decay or insect infestation below grade, under normal conditions. Full documentation is provided at the time of quote.

05

Can I see completed buildings similar to what I want to build?

Yes. Our project gallery covers every building type we build, and your rep can connect you with previous customers who've built similar structures in your region.

06

What is the minimum building size you work with?

We build everything from modest acreage hobby shops to large commercial and industrial facilities. If it's post-frame construction, it's in our scope.
